3 Team Trade Idea from Jonathan Wasserman of B/R
Indiana Pacers Receive: No. 2 Pick
Golden State Warriors Receive: Myles Turner, No. 6 Pick
Atlanta Hawks Receive: Andrew Wiggins, 2021 First Round Pick (via MIN)
The logistics for this particular trade are quite simple with only two contracts being involved. The Atlanta Hawks have more than enough salary cap space to be able to take on Wiggins’ contract— making it so they don’t have to give up a contract to execute the deal.
The Indiana Pacers would free up $17.5 million in salary cap room before getting selected with the No. 2 pick to sign their rookie deal. The first year of the contract for the new prospect would be roughly $7.7 million— netting Indiana roughly $9.8 million in freed up spending room.
As for the Golden State Warriors, there is a difference of $8 million in the salary that Turner is set to earn next season compared to Wiggins. Meanwhile, the No. 6 pick is set to earn $5.1 million in the first year of their rookie deal.
The 2021 first-round selection the Hawks would receive from the Warriors is the Timberwolves’ pick. It’s top-three protected in 2021 and becomes unprotected in 2022 if it doesn’t convey.
