1. Houston Rockets
For a team that went ultra-small and it didn’t quite work out, pursuing a trade for a center seems to be a logical move for the Rockets. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Houston look into doing this in the offseason when considering the Western Conference has plenty of elite bigs.
Myles Turner is a particularly intriguing option for the Rockets’ offense for a variety of different reasons. Not only is a capable catch-and-shoot threat, but he also has an underrated ability to get to the rim off the dribble from the perimeter and has the athleticism to finish as a rim roller.
The Rockets’ offense is led by two high volume lane penetration threats in Russell Westbrook and James Harden — having a big man with the combination of skills Turner has would be a fascinating possibility.
Having a rim protector like Turner to funnel lane penetration to on defense would be a helpful addition for the Rockets. This could better help to cover up some of the backcourt’s miscues when guarding the ball while enabling their wings to be able to play the passing lanes.
