2020 NBA Draft Rumors: Teams have a major concern with Anthony Edwards

During the early stages of the 2020 NBA Draft, the expectation was that Anthony Edwards would end up being selected with the No. 1 pick. That was only emboldened after the Minnesota Timberwolves landed the top selection — or at least in the beginning.

There has been some concerns raised about Edwards from both scouts and executives as organizations prepare for the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft.

According to Bleacher Report, there are concerns about Edwards’ lack of enthusiasm for winning and the fact that his teams at all levels didn’t succeed much. Dion Waiters has been used as a comparison for what the low-end of Edwards’ potential.

There are legitimate concerns about Edwards’ skill-set when it comes to his potential in the NBA. He struggled substantially with his jump shooting efficiency both on pull-ups and in catch-and-shoot situations. Additionally, he hasn’t shown much sophistication in his ability to get to the rim or create shots for teammates.

There are plenty of positive attributes Edwards has to his game between his size and athleticism for a guard. His skill-set is a bit raw and his feel for the game is lacking, but the right landing spot in the NBA Draft could help him to progress in key areas. Do the Timberwolves believe they’re that team?

It will be fascinating to see what the Timberwolves end up deciding to do with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Minnesota isn’t enamored by Edwards, they could go with a talent like LaMelo Ball, or even trade down in the draft order.

Anthony Edwards’ draft stock could have a considerable impact on the way the 2020 NBA Draft order turns out. It will be fascinating to see how it all plays out and if Edwards can help to dispel some of those rumors that are surfacing around him.
