1. Desperate Need at the Position

The days of Clyde Frazier and Mark Jackson are way in the rearview. The Knicks have lacked a competent starting point guard for what feels like a century.

Think about some of the names that have handled the ball for the Knicks. Toney Douglas, Mike Bibby, Shane Larkin, Jose Calderon, Jerian Grant, Jeremy Lin (after the short “Linsanity” period, Lin was putrid).

On the roster now, the Knicks have Elfrid Payton, Dennis Smith Jr., and Frank Ntilikina on the depth chart. This is a guard drive league and the Knicks have not had one for a long time. It is time to change this.

Why take Donovan Mitchell when we could take Ntilikina? Good work, Knicks. It is time to stop messing around and add a quality point guard in free agency like Fred VanVleet since the NBA Draft hasn’t worked out.
