RUMOR: Clippers to look into trading Lou Williams this offseason

The Los Angeles Clippers are fresh off of their Game 7 elimination from the NBA Playoffs after allowing the Denver Nuggets to come back from a 3-1 series deficit. Rumors have been swirling that the Clippers could break up their core. It appears that Lou Williams could end up being on his way out of town.

According to a report from Legion Hoops Ross, the Clippers are going to look into trading Williams this offseason.

Take this report with a grain of salt since we aren’t hearing it from an Adrian Wojnarowski or Shams Charania type of reporter. However, Ross from Legion Hoops has a very sizable following and this is worth taking note of.

Williams would be a very popular trade target this offseason for quite a few teams around the NBA. He has been one of the league’s most lethal bench scorers for years and could either start or continue coming off the bench for whoever acquires him.

During the 2019-20 season with the Clippers, Williams ended up averaging 18.2 points per game to go along with 5.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds. He shot just 35.2 percent from the field overall and 35.2 percent from three-point range.

Obviously, the shooting numbers are not where the Clippers would have liked them. That likely won’t end up impacting a potential trade suitor. Teams know exactly what kind of scorer Williams is capable of being.

It will be interesting to see what kind of market opens up for Williams. L.A. may choose to keep him, but this will be something to keep an eye on.

Expect to see the Clippers make some moves this offseason. Whether it’s Williams or other players, something needs to be done.
