1. Trade Down for Deni Avdija
The Warriors’ interest in drafting a wing over a big man could lead them to a player like Deni Avdija. If this is their mindset, they could trade down and land their guy further down in the middle of the top 10. There will be plenty of teams interested in trading up for a top player.
Golden State’s interest in Avdija is high. At 19-years old, Avdija was named the youngest MVP in the history of the Israeli Basketball League. He averaged 12.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Avdija shot 52.6% from the field and 35.3% from the three-point line.
He made great strides on the defensive end but his strength is on offense. Avdija is an elite level passer who works well in transition. He knows what to do with or without the ball in his hands.
Avdija would be an interesting option for the Warriors. This might be viewed as a reach if they go this route with the No. 2 overall pick. If they could get another pick in the draft to move down and still land Avdija, this would be the best route for Golden State.
