How Big of A Chip Does Harden & Westbrook Have?

In 2011, the Oklahoma City Thunder went on a remarkable run to the 2010 NBA Finals where they would lose to the Miami Heat led by LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. However, after the loss, the offseason brought changes to a team that was built to be the next NBA dynasty. The major move was Sam Presti letting James Harden walk out the door.

Russell Westbook stayed and he has not been able to reach the NBA Finals since. Kevin Durant has won two titles with the Golden State Warriors and that leaves Harden and Westbrook as the only members of that dynamic trio still without.

In their first season together since their OKC days, the duo has managed to mesh well despite their similar characteristics on the court. Westbrook has managed to average 27.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game. Harden has been as equally dangerous with averages of 34.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists.

If these two offensive players can channel their energy from the disappointing seasons they shared while in OKC and then as they led their respective teams as individuals, the Rockets could be a scary opponent going forward.
