One of the Best Facilitators in the Game
LeBron James has always been one of the best all-around players in the NBA. Nothing has changed in that sense, however, this season he’s been an outstanding playmaker for his Lakers teammates, creating tons of open shots and high percentage opportunities.
Prior to 2019-20, the most assists that James averaged in a single season was 9.1; two years ago with Cleveland. This year, he has 10.6 per night.
It definitely makes sense though given that Davis is now a Laker. LeBron is trying to get the ball in AD’s hands as often as humanly possible when he isn’t doing the finishing himself. Whether it’s a bounce pass to a cutting teammate or a long toss on the fast break, James has proven to be one of the best passers in the game and he’s not even a guard.
The King currently ranks eighth all-time with over 9,000 assists in his career, a testament to his ability to facilitate the basketball. Sure, he’s a natural-born scorer who’s averaging over 25 per contest this year as well, but the fact that he has 10.6 assists as well is extremely impressive.
The Lakers don’t have a lot of weapons other than James and Davis, but The King is making his teammates better nonetheless by giving them simple opportunities to drain buckets because of his creativity.
