LeBron James gives Ja Morant high praise after Lakers’ loss to Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies are rapidly on the rise after undergoing a rebuild. A key reason for that resurgence has been Ja Morant and Los Angles Lakers superstar LeBron James has taken notice.

When asked about Morant after the Lakers’ 105-88 loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday, James called him ‘super special’ and said the ‘sky’s the limit’ for the young guard’s potential in the NBA.

“The kid is super special,” James said. “Like I said when we just played him in L.A., Memphis got a great one. They got a great one. So, the sky’s the limit for the kid.”

The display Morant put together against the Lakers made him beyond deserving of praise. He racked up 27 points and 14 assists against an elite team while Jaren Jackson Jr. was sidelined due to injury.

The respect is mutual as Morant expressed how great of a role model James is and by saying he ‘doesn’t think there can be another LeBron.’

“That’s big bro — the King,” Morant said. “I mean, I feel like everybody knows who he is. Just somebody that I look up to, a great [role] model. He’s just one of a kind. I don’t think there can be another LeBron.”

The rookie season Morant has put together has been nothing short of spectacular. He has posted averages of 17.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 7.0 assists while keeping the Grizzlies in the Western Conference playoff race.

The NBA playoffs could potentially feature a first-round matchup between LeBron James and Ja Morant. The Lakers will likely finish with the top seed in the conference while the Grizzlies could end up finishing eighth.
