Knicks F Julius Randle speaks out on recent trade rumors

Julius Randle has been hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors quite often over the past couple of weeks. As the New York Knicks ponder what to do ahead of the NBA trade deadline, Randle’s name is one of the only intriguing pieces that they have to dangle in trade discussions.

With all of the media presence and the rumors that have come out, Randle spoke out about the speculation. In a quote shared by the New York Post, the Knicks’ forward made it clear that he isn’t bothered by all the rumors.

“Any concern?” Randle said. “Nah, bro. Honestly, I ain’t worried about it. You start — my sixth year, you start to realize this is a business. You can’t worry about what you can’t control.’’

That is certainly the best possible way that any player in the NBA could handle trade rumors. It is a business at the end of the day and we are reminded nearly every year that neither the team or players have a ton of loyalty to each other.

So far this season with the Knicks, Randle has put together solid numbers. He is currently averaging 18.9 points per game to go along with 9.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Randle has shot 44.9 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 29.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

Perhaps a change of scenery would do Randle some good. He has fit in decently with the Knicks, but they are not a winning basketball team. Randle could find himself being traded to a playoff contender if he’s lucky.

All of that being said, we will surely hear more trade talk surrounding Randle as the deadline draws closer. He hears the noise, but is taking the right approach to not worrying too much about something he can’t control.
