#2: Terrence Ross
Another veteran player on a rebuilding team, Terrence Ross could add bench scoring and perimeter shooting to a team in dire need of it. The Thunder currently rank 24th in the NBA in bench scoring, and 22nd in overall points, per NBA.com. Adding a spark from the second unit would be a great way for them to remedy both issues simultaneously.
In his sixth year, Ross continues to show the attributes that made him a first-round pick. He is a very capable athlete and scorer who can make shots from anywhere on the court. His 13.8 points per game would be the fifth-highest average on the Thunder roster, behind only Westbrook, Paul George, Steven Adams, and Schröder. Much like Korver, he would be a good option on the wing in Roberson’s absence. Many of the negatives Korver would bring (age and lack of athleticism) wouldn’t be an issue with Ross.
The Thunder could send Alex Abrines and Terrance Ferguson to Orlando, which would provide the Magic two young players with inexpensive contracts that give Orlando added flexibility. The Magic have had issues with their backcourt for some time now, and Abrines could potentially shine for them with a more important role than his current position with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
If the Thunder wanted to make a bigger splash, they could potentially inquire about Nikola Vucevic, Ross’ current teammate. Trading for Vucevic would mean that the Thunder would need to give up more assets, however. With Adams and Noel already taking the lion’s share of minutes in the frontcourt, Vucevic’s potential impact on the roster may not be worth giving up picks or players with tremendous upside or potential.
